As a health and life coach that works with stroke and TBI survivors, Marcia Moran draws upon her own experience after she suffered a major stoke in 2014. In her own recovery, Marcia applied her skills in planning and strategy as she strived to become whole. She never gave up. Over time she learned to walk again, but Marcia struggled with aphasia, a language disorder. She joined Toastmasters International® hoping to regain her speaking abilities. It helped some, but in August 2017 she discovered a technological breakthrough that minimized her speaking disability. She then pushed beyond her comfort zone to become a Toastmasters International Club Officer in 2017, then Area Director in 2019.
Marcia created her book, Stroke FORWARD, because she felt a strong need to share hope to stroke and TBI survivors and their caretakers. No one truly understands a brain injury until it happens to you. Learning to become her own health advocate one step a time and exploring holistic methods for healing are keys to her recovery. Marcia's husband, Jim, played an important role as caretaker and advocate for Marcia through her recovery -- and Jim's observations and experiences also are captured in Stroke FORWARD.
Marcia speaks and shares her message of hope, inspiration, healing, and a way forward as she goes across the country. She welcomes new opportunities to help individuals affected by major health crises move ahead. Marcia became a health and life coach to work directly with stroke and TBI survivors and their caregivers.
Marcia and Jim live with two very loud cats, and one bird near Washington, DC. On weekends, Marcia, Jim, and the cats go to Deep Creek, Maryland where Marcia paints watercolors. In the evening Marcia and Jim sit out on the deck and watch fireflies flit by.
Marcia holds a B.S. in Political Science with a magna cum laude from the University of North Dakota and a Master’s in Business Administration, from Chapman University, in California. A woman of many talents, she attended school in Sandefjord, Norway to study art. She earned a certificate in Well-being Foundations of Personal Transformation from the Personal Transformation and Courage Institute in Virginia. Recently, Marcia also earned certificates as a Health Coach and a Life Coach from the Health Coach Institute.

“Before coaching with Marcia Moran, I struggled with living my values. Then Marcia taught me that at was okay to be myself. If I really wanted to change and become the person I said I was, I could actually do it. So . . . I read a book called This Naked Mind: Control Alcohol, Find Freedom, Discover Happiness, and Change Your Life. And, I decided I didn’t need to drink anymore. I haven’t had a drink for over two months . . . and I don’t miss it. I don’t even think about it.
The 3 most significant results I’ve experienced from coaching with Marcia are her compassion, her willingness to accept me as am and to view me as who I choose to be, and holding the space so that I make my own decisions without influence.
What I loved most about coaching with Marcia is learning how to be the real me. I can’t wait for the next chapter of my life!”
